Charity

Sykes Group is proud to support a range of worthy charities within our communities each and every year.

During October, the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation will be holding their annual 'Bubbly Breakfast'. Sykes Group is supporting this and invites other businesses to do the same.

Sykes Group actively encourage our staff to attend mobile blood donation centres, and allow them time from work to help the Australian Red Cross Blood Service.

Sykes are proud to support Debra Australia and their Butterfly Ball held in July 2008, a fundraising event to raise much needed funds for further education and research into Epidermolysis.

On Australia Day, Sykes purchased ducks in the "Ducks for Dollars", a fundraiser for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and the Hunter Surf Lifesavers. Our poor ducks did dismally, but it was for a good cause!

Late in 2007 Sykes assisted Thiess Services in their fundraising efforts for the Westmead Children’s Hospital. Their aim was to raise over $15,000 for this very worthwhile institution during the Christmas season.

During September a team from Sykes  (Jeff Butler, Paul White, Glenn Garrett and Chris O’Brien) competed in the Annual ‘Cummins Masters’ at Coffs Harbour Golf Course. As well as Chris coming a very commendable second in the 9 Hole Stroke – 44 off the stick – Sykes provided a donation for an auction prize ( a Hot Lap for 2 people in the Cummins V8 Supercar), with money raised going towards Variety Club. In excess of $12,000 was raised.

Sykes supported a team of staff from Cummins who undertook the CF Kokoda Trek, raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis S.A.
